Should Terry Wallace Go?

Before I begin this piece, I’ll just unashamedly point out that I predicted Richmond would be no good again this year as far back as December 2008 when the Tigers first picked up Ben Cousins. Long before the likes of Terry Wallace could have managed to stuff things up for them.

It is now round 5 and Richmond supporters are calling for blood after 4 straight losses. Specifically, the blood of senior coach Terry Wallace.

It is also fair to say Richmond can probably expect to go as far as 0 - 6 after North at the Docklands this week followed by a trip to Sydney.

Having said that, Tiger supporters need to ease right up off their coach. Richmond are an old side with most of their decent players over 30 years of age. They did not make the finals this year and have played in the last four rounds, three very good sides including Geelong and the Bulldogs who finished 2nd and 3rd respectively last year.

It seems like Richmond fans have unrealistic expectations of their team, probably based on the recruiting of the fallen eagle Ben Cousins, who by the way is presently injured and not even playing.

Screaming for the sacking of Terry Wallace is not going to help the Richmond footy club. The Tigers need to go back to the drawing board and sort some things out before making a surge later in 2009.

Calm down and let the Tigers play out the season under Wallace. Giving Wallace the flick now will achieve nothing and more than likely spell the end for Richmond in 2009 along with Richo and Bowden.
